Apaches Send the Puppies to the Pound for Weekday Opener

Trevor Breaux, in his first start of the season, tossed a one-hitter and James Raecek drove in six runs in the Apaches' 10-0, five-inning win over Navarro College on Wednesday in a Region XIV Conference baseball game at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field.

Tyler Junior College improved to 26-18 overall and 12-13 in conference. The Bulldogs fell to 19-20 and 12-10. The two teams will play again on Saturday in Corsicana. Game 1 of the doubleheader is slated to start at 1 p.m.

Breaux (3-1) struck out two and walked two.

Raecek was 3 for 3 at the plate, including a two-run homer and a three-RBI double. The freshman from Plano was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

Preston Newberry, Landry Stamps and Chase Fuentes each added doubles for the Apaches.

Stamps had two hits with Lathan Van Ausdall and Sawyer Dunagan each adding singles.

Others driving in runs were Newberry (1), Dunagan (1) and Fuentes (1).

Van Ausdall and Raecek each scored three runs. Also scoring runs were Newberry (1), Stamps (1), Micah Roberts (1) and Dunagan (1).

TJC had five stolen bases — Newberry, Zack Zavala, Raecek and Dunagan.

Brock DeYoung had the lone hit for the Bulldogs.

 

Apaches travel to Corsicana this Saturday to finish the three game series. Double header starting at 1 pm.
