McLennan sweeps Northeast Texas, Crafts throws no-hitter
McLennan Softball smashed the Northeast Texas this afternoon a Bosque River Ballpark to pick up a doubleheader sweep of the Eagles.
McLennan got a 9-1 run-rule win in game one with Reese Taylor getting the win in the circle.
Northeast Texas' only run came in the top of the second inning as Lauren Isbell doubled and scored on a single by Jayci Hightower.
McLennan tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third as Arianna Perales doubled and scored on a single by Sophie Wideman.
Eight runs in the bottom of the fourth secured the run rule. Cydney DeLeon and Arianna Perales both walked, and Wideman singled to load the bases. Lindsey Evans also walked, bringing DeLeon in to score. Perales scored on a passed ball and Wideman scored on a wild pitch. Jessika Truax drew a walk and Evans scored on an Eagle error. Melayna Lopez and Rebeca Fajardo both walked, reloading the bases. Kadyn Trochim walked to score Truax. Genesis Rodriguez then doubled to score Lopez and Fajardo. DeLeon followed with a single to score Trochim.
Gracy Crafts threw a no-hitter for McLennan in the second game, leading the squad to a 9-0 shut-out victory.
McLennan jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. DeLeon led off with a single and scored on a triple by Perales. Evans reached first and moved to second on an error, bringing Perales in to score. Evans then moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.
Another run score in the third as Truax walked, moved to second on a passed ball, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Madeline Stephens and scored on a double by Lopez.
Two McLennan runs scored in the fourth. DeLeon doubled and Perales singled. A fielder's choice by Wideman put DeLeon out at third. Evans was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Truax followed with a single to score Perales, and Wideman scored on a fly out by Rebekah Parks.
McLennan added a run in the fifth. Lopez was safe on an error but out at second on a fielder's choice by Fajardo. DeLeon walked and Perales singled to load the bases. Fajardo scored as DeLeon was picked off at second.
Two runs in the sixth sealed the win for McLennan. Jasmine Garcia singled and Lopez walked. Fajardo followed with a walk-off double to score Garcia and Lopez.
McLennan returns to action tomorrow, hosting Navarro for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Bosque River Ballpark.
