Jayhawks Walk Off Alpena CC in 5-4 Thriller
Muskegon Community College earned a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over Alpena Community College on Saturday. With the game tied at four in the bottom of the seventh, Jayden Brown delivered the game-winning hit, singling to score the winning run.
The Jayhawks struck first in the bottom of the first inning on a passed ball. They tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth, thanks to an RBI walk by Aidan Buchberger and a fielder's choice RBI from Nathan Dodd.
Koby Windeler got the start for Muskegon, allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) over four innings while striking out five and walking three. Noah Morgan was lights out in relief, tossing three scoreless innings with four strikeouts, two walks, and no hits allowed.
Carter Hughes paced the offense, going 3-for-4. Buchberger, Brown, and Dodd each added an RBI in the win.
Dodd Shines at the Plate as Jayhawks Defeat Alpena CC, 8-4
Nathan Dodd delivered a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 to help lead Muskegon Community College to an 8-4 victory over Alpena Community College on Saturday. Dodd doubled in the second inning, then added singles in the fourth and fifth.
Dodd's RBI double in the second got the scoring started for the Jayhawks. Muskegon added another run in the third when Dayton Thomas grounded into a fielder's choice to make it 2-0.
Javanni Johnson picked up the win on the mound, tossing seven innings and allowing five hits and four runs—only one earned. He struck out two and walked three.
The Jayhawks racked up 17 hits in the win. Aidan Buchberger, hitting out of the eighth spot, led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 day. Christian Kennedy added a 2-for-4 performance and drove in a team-high two runs. Carter Hughes, Bryce Luevano, Ryne Christensen, and Dodd all tallied multiple hits as well.
Muskegon also showed hustle on the base paths with three stolen bases and turned one double play defensively.
