Sharpe and Ruppe among others receiving Region X honors

Louisburg College men's and women's cross country competed at the Region X DI Cross Country Championship over the weekend weekend. The event was held at Patrick Henry Community College.

The men won the event finishing ahead of Spartanburg Methodist College with a score of 23 points to SMC's 32. Seth Sharpe had a great showing bringing home the individual championship. He was followed by Dexter Hill in second and John Gormley in third. According to Coach Cameron Ruppe, "John had a fantastic race and is getting better every week."

In the ladies race Princess Johnson put in a very strong effort to finish fourth in Region X.

Several runners declared All-Region Saturday including Seth Sharpe, Bryan Dexter Hill, John Gormley, and Noah Bankston. Princess Johnson and Alana Morgan took home the same honor for the women.

Louisburg College took home the two biggest accolades of the season this weekend as Seth Sharpe was named Region X Runner of the Year and Cameron Ruppe was named Region X Coach of the Year.

Coach Ruppe commented, "This was a tune up meet a couple weeks before the National Championship in Fort Dodge, Iowa. We did what we needed to do to bring home the Region Championship and put ourselves in a good position for a strong showing at Nationals."

The Hurricanes currently hold a #12 ranking in NJCAA DI and run again at Nationals on November 14th in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
