Yetis Volleyball Records 20th Win in Inaugural Season
Congratulations to the CCC Volleyball team on their 20th win in their inaugural season, pushing them to 3rd place out of 12 teams in Region 10. The Yetis capped off the regular season at home on Thursday with wins in both of their matches.
In a highly anticipated volleyball match between Cleveland Community College and Lenoir Community College, it was Cleveland that emerged victorious in a three-set battle. The game, which took place at Cleveland Community College, showcased the talent and determination of both teams.
The first set kicked off with both teams displaying their offensive prowess. Lenoir started strong, taking an early lead, but Cleveland quickly caught up and the set became a back-and-forth affair. The players from both teams showed their skills, delivering powerful spikes and well-placed serves. However, it was Cleveland who managed to edge out Lenoir, securing a 28-26 victory in the first set.
The second set was equally intense, with both teams fighting for every point. Lenoir, determined to make a comeback, put up a fierce fight. Their players exhibited great defensive skills, making it difficult for Cleveland to score. However, Cleveland's offensive strategy proved to be too strong, as they managed to secure a narrow 26-24 win in the second set.
Heading into the third set, Lenoir knew they had to give it their all to stay in the game. They displayed great teamwork and resilience, constantly challenging Cleveland's defense. The players from both teams showed incredible hustle, diving for every ball and refusing to let anything hit the ground without a fight. Ultimately, Cleveland's offensive firepower proved to be too much for Lenoir, as they closed out the set with a 25-23 victory.
Cleveland's Chandler Jerome and Jadyn Florin were standout performers in the match. Jerome showcased her versatility, contributing 14 kills, 6 aces, and 3 blocks. Florin, on the other hand, displayed her dominance at the net, recording an impressive 20 kills. Kassie Swink also played a crucial role, providing 23 assists and 1 block for her team.
Cleveland Community College's volleyball team had a dominant performance against Guilford Technical Community College on October 19, 2023. Cleveland Community won the match with a final score of 3-0, winning all three sets.
In the first set, Guilford Technical scored 16 points, while Cleveland scored 25 points. The second set saw Guilford Technical scoring 18 points, but Cleveland still came out on top with 25 points. In the final set, Guilford Technical scored 21 points, but Cleveland secured the win with 25 points.
Yetis players showed impressive performances throughout the match. Chandler Jerome stood out with 13 kills and an attack percentage of .211. Jadyn Florin also contributed significantly with 16 kills and an impressive attack percentage of .423. Kassie Swink played a vital role in setting up plays, recording 23 assists and contributing four kills.
Defensively, Daniela Castillo led the team in digs with 16, while Angela Castillo and Karlie Russell were also key players for Cleveland. Castillo recorded seven kills and 11 digs, while Russell contributed 11 digs and two aces. Andrea Melton also made an impact with 6 digs and 5 aces.
