Women's Basketball Finishes 3rd at National Tournament

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the NJCAA DIII National Tournament, before ultimately taking 3rd place.

In their quarterfinal game, the Golden Rams defeated Northland 61-48, holding the Pioneers to just 28.4 percent shooting and 4 of 20 from the three-point line.

Mariam Alowonie scored 12 points, Bella Kanz added 11 points, and Jada Lussier pulled down ten rebounds.

In the semifinals, Rochester dispatched Anoka-Ramsey 71-48.  Rochester would go on to win the championships.  Anoka-Ramsey committed 25 turnovers and shot just 5 of 17 from the three-point line.

Sydney Hazuga scored 13 points, and Kanz added ten.

Then in the 3rd place game, Anoka-Ramsey faced another MCAC team in Minnesota West, winning 64-45 behind another stellar defensive effort.  The Golden Rams forced 27 turnovers, and hauled in 24 offensive rebounds leading to 29 more field goal attempts than the Lady Jays.

Four players scored double figures led by 15 from Lussier.  Hazuga scored 13 points making 3 of 7 from three.  Kanz scored 12 points to go with nine rebounds.  Alowonie scored 11 points.  Tereya Vaughn pulled down 12 rebounds, 8 on the offensive end.

Bella Kanz was named to the All-Tournament team.

Anoka-Ramsey concludes the season with a 20-10 overall record.
