Michel leads DMACC women's golf team to second place finish in NIACC Fall Invitational
  • Bears post a score of 337 and finish nine strokes behind Simpson College
  • Freshman Kaylin Petrak finishes 15th with an 86
  • Freshman Erin Winker and sophomore Dani Nolde tie for 16th and 19th respectively

 

Sophomore Ashley Michel of Nassau, Bahamas, fired a one-over-par 73 to capture medalist honors and lead the DMACC women's golf team to a second-place finish in the NIACC Fall Invitational September 9 at the Mason City Country Club in Mason City.

 

Michel finished four strokes in front of Zoe Banack of Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) as the Bears turned in an 18-hole score of 337 and finished five strokes in front of ILCC. Simpson College (SC) took the team championship with an 18-hole score of 328.

 

Three other DMACC golfers finished in the top 20. Freshman Kaylin Petrak of Grimes was 15th with an 86 and freshman Erin Winker of Carroll and sophomore Dani Nolde of Ogallala, Neb., tied for 15th and 19th respectively. Winker posted an 88 and Nolde shot a 90.

 

DMACC freshman Rylee Roberts of Pleasant Hill also played in the tournament, shooting a 105 and trying for 31st.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the DMACC Invitational Sept. 16 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone
