Men's tennis takes down Pima, 5-4

Tucson, AZ – Taking two of three doubles matches to begin the contest gave the Mesa men's tennis team the momentum it needed to score a 5-4 win on the road over Pima Tuesday.

MCC ran its record to 2-0 to begin the season with the victory.

The No. 1 doubles team of Beto Carlon and Cameron Khan defeated Corey Pabst and Anton Nazaroff, 8-6, and the T-Birds's No. 2 pairing of Leandro Prado and Max Beasley won 8-4 over Mason Lee and Mitchell Wilkinson to earn Mesa a 2-1 lead after doubles play ended.

Carlon and Leandro Prado then took the top two singles matches, Carlon topping Pabst, 7-5, 6-0, and Prado winning over Nazaroff, 6-4, 7-5. Hung Pham also captured the No. 6 singles match with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Emanuel Robles Serrano.

The T-Birds take a short break before returning to action in their first home match, March 18 against Glendale at 1:30 p.m.
