Genesee Shutouts Clinton in Season Opener

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College women's soccer team defeated the Clinton Community College Cougars on Saturday afternoon 5-0.

Genesee would get two quick goals midway through the opening half from Alexa Jordan and Julia Ashworth. Macie Riggs and Diante Scheepers would add to the Cougars lead with late goals in the opening half for a 4-0 lead at intermission.

The offense would strike again in the second half as Carleigh Folts found the back of the net. Strong defensive play by the Cougars defense was found from the outset and was had all game long, propelling the Cougars to the victory on their home field. Madison Papaj and Alexa Salatel split time between the nets for Genesee to record the shutout.

Genesee will take on North Country CC Sunday afternoon at 1pm in the Andie Carpenter Memorial Cup.
