HART, KING LEAD WARRIORS IN SEASON OPENER

Topeka, KS – A flurry of freshman standouts led the Indian Hills Women's Track & Field squad at the team's opening meet on Saturday as the Warriors competed in the Washburn Alumni Invitational at the Washburn University Indoor Athletic Facility.

Newcomer Jahzara Hart (Raleigh, NC/Southeast Raleigh) led four individuals in the top eight of the women's 60-meter dash. Hart placed second overall with a time of 7.53. Hart posted a prelim time of 7.71 before sprinting to a 7.53 mark and the runner-up finish. Hart's time was just 0.01 seconds off the school record time set by Kayla McCray last season.

Teammate Zakiya Porter (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) placed fifth overall in the event with a time of 7.92 followed by Shanice Cox's (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis South) seventh place finish at 8.00 and Zaniya King's 8.07 mark to place eighth.

King took home a third-place finish in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 25.05. Hart finished right behind King with a time of 25.19 to place fourth overall. Both marks are within striking distance of the 24.95 national qualifying standard for this year.

The Warriors return to action on Saturday, December 10 at the Iowa State Holiday Invitational in Ames, IA.
