Sandburg Women’s Golf Wins Region IV Championship
NORTHBROOK — After finishing as runner-up by a stroke at last year's Region IV tournament, the Carl Sandburg College women's golf team made certain there was no drama this time around.
The Chargers claimed the first region championship in program history Tuesday at Heritage Oaks, finishing off a dominant performance in the 36-hole tournament. Sandburg took four of the five spots on the All-Region IV team and put together a two-day total of 756 to win by 188 shots over runner-up Alexandria Tech.
With the victory, Sandburg qualifies to represent the Midwest District at the NJCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship from May 8-11 at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kan.

Sophomores Anna Duden and Olivia Schwingle each earned all-region honors for the second consecutive year by finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, with totals of 192 and 197. Freshman Addy Trego finished seventh overall and contributed to the Chargers' second-round score with a 99.
Sandburg freshman Griffin Skees played as a marker whose scores didn't count in the tournament, but she went on to fire her best two-day score of the fall with rounds of 98 and 93.
Alexandria Tech's Abby Hamman was the individual Region IV champion for the second straight year with a two-day score of 163.
