PEORIA, Ill. - The NIACC baseball team scored nine runs in the first inning and hit four home runs en route to an 18-6 victory over Illinois Central Sunday.
It was the first time the Trojans scored 18 runs in a game since they scored 18 against the Central College Junior Varsity in the first game of a doubleheader on May 2, 2019.
In the first inning, the Trojans (2-1) received a grand slam from Logan Milene and a three-run home run from Declan Beers.
The Trojans also received a two-run home run from Luke Paulson in the sixth inning and a solo home run from Coby Tweten in the fourth inning.
Johnny Czeslawski gained the win for the Trojans on the mound. He struck out four, walked one and allowed five runs on three hits in five innings of work.
NIACC hit a total of seven home runs in the three-game series against Illinois Central. The two teams split a pair of games on Saturday.
