Picken’s T-12 Finish Leads Chargers at Sauk Valley Fall Classic

DEER GROVE — Tyler Picken tied for 12th and the Carl Sandburg College men's golf team placed seventh at the Sauk Valley Fall Classic on Thursday at Deer Valley.

Picken came in with an 8-over-par 80, finishing just one stroke out of a spot in the top 10. The sophomore's round included a 2-over 38 on the front nine that featured birdies on the par-4 fifth and par-5 eighth holes.

The Chargers finished with a total of 337, six shots behind sixth-place DuPage in the 11-team field. Other counting scores for Sandburg were an 85 from Kyle Shaw (T-32nd) and 86s from Logan Beers and Jake McGarry (T-40th)

Illinois Central's Peyton Woods shot a 2-over 74 to take medalist honors by a stroke over DuPage's Hagan Rank. ICC also won the team title, shooting 318 to edge host Sauk Valley by three strokes.
