Indians surrender 13-point lead to Laramie County in loss

CHEYENNE, Wyo. The McCook Community College men's basketball team stretched a five-point halftime lead to a 48-35 lead 3:30 into the second half but couldn't hold it as Laramie County Community College came back for a 75-66 win Friday.

"We need to find an inner dog and learn to fight back," said MCC Coach Kyle Drennan.

The Eagles, who were 1-7 entering Friday's game, out-scored MCC 44-30 in the second half including a 16-2 run after MCC took its largest lead of the game to take back the lead for good with 9:45 left in the game.

MCC shot just 37.3 percent from the floor on 58 shots; made just three of 12 3-pointers (25 percent) and gave away 15 points at the free-throw line making just 19 of 34 shots (55.9 percent) and turned the ball over 17 times.

"We missed 15 free throws and couldn't make a layup, you can't win any game that way," Drennan said.

LCCC shot 45 percent from the field, made six of 22 3-pointers and 23 of 29 free throws (79 percent).

Freshmen Catthadious Moore (Memphis, Tenn.) and Freshman LeTre Darthard (Denton, Texas) led MCC with 13 points each. Sophomore Raheim Sullivan (Toronto, Ontario) scored nine.

Freshman Rahkiem Petterson (Midland, Texas) led MCC with seven rebounds. The Indians lost the rebound battle 34-26.

The 6-7 Indians close out the 2019 portion of the schedule Saturday at 4 p.m. (CT) in Torrington against Eastern Wyoming (6-3).
