Roadrunner Men's and Women's Soccer Fall to Host Sussex CCC

Roadrunner Men's and Women's Soccer traveled a long road Saturday without success in their matches vs. host Sussex County Community College as the Skylanders emerged with a pair of wins.

In the men's contest, Runners' goalkeeper Gunner Hoffman made 12 saves, including 4 in overtime, but it wasn't enough as the Skylanders escaped with a 1-0 win in double OT. The Runners had 9 total shots on goal but could not convert.

"Gunner (Hoffman) was great and had some key stops, but we left too many chances on the fieled ourselves," said Runners' head coach George Hoffman.

Hobbins' team dropped to 10-3 overall while No. 7 nationally ranked Sussex improved to 7-0-3 overall.

In the women's match, Carina Gasparini scored 3 consecutive goals while teammate Blaine Vallorisi collected 2 goals and 1 assists as the Skylanders rolled to a 6-0 win. The No. 6 Runners dropped to 10-2 overall while Sussex improved to 7-2.

Coach Megan Ruttler's team closed out the regular season with a home match vs. Union on Monday, Oct. 18 in a 4 pm start.
