Indians drop 80-72 decision to Northern Oklahoma

HOBBS, N.M. Northern Oklahoma College-Enid dealt the McCook Community College men's basketball team its second straight loss to start the season. The Jets beat the Indians 80-72 on the second day of the Estacado Federal Credit Union Tip-Off Classic.

Sophomore transfer Justin Costello (Omaha) a Nebraska transfer led MCC with 13 points on the afternoon which included a three-for-eight afternoon from the 3-point line.

Sophomore transfer Raheim Sullivan (Toronto, Ontario) scored 12 points and led the Indians with eight rebounds. Freshmen LeTre Darthard (Denton, Texas) and Rahkiem Petterson (Midland, Texas) both scored 11 points.

The Jets shot 49.1 percent from the field, 48.3 percent from the 3-point line (14 of 28) and 12 of 18 from the line.

MCC was 43.6 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from distance making eight of 21 shots and 16 of 26 from the free-throw line (61.5)

The Jets held a 33-30 rebound edge but MCC enjoyed a 32-18 advantage in the paint.

Northern Oklahoma turned the ball over 12 times to just nine for MCC.

The Indians will wrap up tournament play Sunday at 11 a.m. against Phoenix College.
