Men's Lax Streak Halted at No. 4 Howard

COLUMBIA, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team saw its winning streak come to an end Saturday, falling 15-9 at No. 4 Howard Community College. The Riverhawks made a comeback bid in the second half, cutting the Dragons' lead to three midway through the fourth quarter.

Trevor Collier scored three goals to go with an assist for the Riverhawks, while Sam Weisshaar scored twice to go with two assists. Nick Barton scored twice, and Francis O'Hara assisted two goals in addition to scoring one.

The teams traded goals in the first quarter before Howard scored six times in the second quarter, including twice with the man advantage, to take an 8-2 lead into halftime.

Both teams scored three times in the third, then AACC scored the first three goals of the fourth – two as man-up goals from Collier – to cut the Dragons' lead to three, 8-11. Howard then rattled off four in a row to extend the lead before Barton capped the game's scoring with less than two minutes left.

Overall, Howard finished 5-of-6 with the man advantage, while AACC scored twice in seven opportunities.

AACC outshot its host, 42-36, and won 14 of 27 faceoffs, paced by a 13 wins from Mark Kelm. Conner Westervelt made five saves in the loss.   

The Riverhawks are back in action Tuesday in a 4 pm game at Carroll Community College.
