
FULTON, Miss. – ICC's Lady Indians swept rival Northeast in a dominant 9-0 match at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts on Thursday.
ICC started the contest with a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Lucia Rubio (Valencia, Spain) and Rayssa Dominguez (Bebedouro, Brazil) secured No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 victory followed by an 8-2 win at No. 2 for Presley Thomas (Oxford) and Melina Vazquez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and an 8-1 victory for Ainsley Robison (Guntown) and Caitlyn Ard (Pontotoc) at No. 3.
In singles play, the Lady Indians kept the momentum going. Dominguez picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles while Rubio secured No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. At No. 3, Vazquez took a 6-0, 6-0 win followed by Thomas winning a hard-fought, 4-6, 6-4 [10-8] decision at No. 4. Robison secured ICC's seventh win of the day with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 5, and Addison Joshlin (Saltillo) completed the match sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
The Lady Indians will be back in action on Tuesday, March 25, for a 2 p.m. road match against Northwest.
