Win Over Cisco Boosts Bulldogs To No. 14

One road win at Cisco over the reigning conference champion Wranglers thrust the Navarro Bulldogs into the No. 14 ranking in the NJCAA's first regular-season Division I Football Poll.

Saturday's 35-14 win by coach Scott Parr's Bulldogs tagged them as one of four Southwest Junior College Football Conference teams to earn Top 15 ranking this week.

Snow College advanced from the No. 2 preseason ranking after its 85-0 win over non-member Gordon's Fine Arts and Sports Academy of Oklahoma City, Ok., while top-ranked 2020 national champion Hutchinson fell 17-10 to Kansas Jayhawk rival Coffeyville.  The Badgers received all six first-place votes.

Now behind the Badgers in the 2-3-4 positions are Northwest Mississippi (1-0), Garden City CC, Ks., (0-0) and Iowa Western (1-0).

Kilgore, the SWJCFC's highest ranked club, polled fifth after its 49-28 drubbing of the Tyler Apaches.  Trinity Valley landed eighth after its 70-7 win over ASA Miami.  NMMI gained one spot into 13th after its lightning-delayed, 40-9 win over the non-member Papago Pumas at the Wool Bowl in Roswell, NM.

Navarro got three rushing touchdowns from Isaiah Robinson and two touchdown passes from Qua Gray in its win at Cisco. The Bulldogs scored after each of their first three possessions and cruised behind a vastly improved defense that made eight sacks, three tackles for losses, three fumble recoveries and an interception while turning away the Wranglers without points on four red-zone trips.
