Men’s Soccer: Raiders Rout Mustangs

Ivan Lopez scored three goals, while Rafael Medrano and Charlie Orsler each tallied a pair of goals in a 7-1 CCC men's soccer win over Morningside University JV on Thursday.

Medrano commenced the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 31^st minute to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Orsler scored back-to-back goals in the 34^th and 37^th minutes with Ismail Hassan assisting on the first goal and Fernando Alves on the second for a 3-0 lead.

Lopez scored his first goal three minutes into the second half with Medrano on the assist to extend CCC's lead to 4-0. The Mustangs avoided a shutout with a goal in the 53^rd minute to make the score, 4-1. Medrano scored his second goal in the 67^th minute with Lopez providing the assist for a 5-1 lead. Lopez rounded out the scoring with goals in 69^th and 87^th minutes with Dayethan Nelson and Medrano, respectively, assisting on the goals for the final score of 7-1.

CCC goalie Rasmus Berg faced five shots on goal and made four saves.

The Raiders are 6-5-1 on the season and will travel to Hesston (Kan.) College on Wednesday. The Larks defeated the Raiders, 2-0, on Sept. 15 at Raider Field. Wednesday's rematch is set for 4 p.m.
