The RCSJ Roadrunners traveled across the river this past weekend to the Widener Invitational, and emerged with perhaps their finest team outing this season!  The two-day meet featured some high-quality competition from some local Division 1 schools including U. Penn, Villanova, and St. Joseph's.  The teams used the stiff competition to help them return home with 41 seasonal best performances as well as 23 NJCAA National Qualifying marks! 

 

Coach Ryan Hughes stated, "It was finally great to have some good weather, to be able to see the hard work the team is putting in come to fruition on the track/field."  Unfortunately, for the second week in a row, the meet was ended early due to storms rolling in, so we were unable to get a qualifying mark in the final event, the men's 4x400m. 

 

Next up, the Roadrunners will split their time between two meets as a final tune up before NJCAA Nationals... the Lion's Invitational hosted by TCNJ and the Elizabethtown Tune-up hosted by Elizabethtown.

 

Highlights of the meet included:

• JT Coleman running a season best in the 400m to put him at #3 on the National List
• Anas Bensaoud running a season best in the 800m to also put him at #3 on the National list
• Giorgio Bruno running the 400m hurdles for the first time all season and putting him at #2 in the nation
• The men's 4x100m relay team had a amazing run to put them at #2 in the nation
• Chris Guerrieri placed 3^rd in the shot put while maintaining his #1 in the nation spot
• Michael Taylor improved his season best in the hammer to regain the #1 spot in the nation
• Ashton Wiseley dropped a massive 6 seconds off of her 800m time to jump up to #8 in the nation
• Susana Serrano also dropped a massive 11 seconds off her time in the 400m hurdles to jump to #9 nationally
• Mariella Farrell performed well enough to maintain her national rankings of #1 and #2 in the discus and hammer respectively
