Golden Rams Stumble on the Road

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team, known for their high scoring offense of over 90 points per game, tied a season-low with 73 points in falling 76-73 to Riverland Community College on Wednesday evening in Austin, MN.

The other time the Golden Rams scored 73 was in their only other MCAC loss, 75-73 at Rochester.

Anoka-Ramsey jumped out to a 10-2 lead before Riverland would fight back and take a 25-19 lead.

The Golden Rams chipped away at the lead and the teams were tied at 34 apiece at halftime.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair with neither team able to take full charge.

Riverland would eventually build a 71-62 lead with 1:30 left to play, but the Golden Rams would knock down some three-point field goals, and Riverland would miss some free throws to keep the game close.

Ultimately, the Golden Rams final shot a tying the game fell short and Anoka-Ramsey suffered just their third defeat of the season.

The Golden Rams struggled to find their offensive footing in the first half shooting just 30.3 percent in the period.  They would fare better in the second half (53.6 percent) to finish at 41 percent overall.

Riverland held a 20-13 edge in offensive rebounds which proved to be a key difference in the game.

Mamadou Ngom scored 17 points.

Edvonte Copeland scored 15 points.

Malik Williams finished with 13 points.

Anoka-Ramsey is 19-3 overall, 7-2 in the MCAC Southern Division and will host M|State Fergus Falls on Saturday, February 11 at 3:00pm
