Mesa Track & Field takes flight at Mesa Multis and CAC Indoor

The MCC Track & Field team made great strides over the weekend as they added multiple athletes to their growing list of national qualifiers and had multiple athletes achieve new personal bests.

Mesa Multis:

Maliyah Ross (3478 points), Natalie Brzezniak (2962 points), & Lucille Lovelace (2411 points) all qualify for nationals in the pentathlon. All al achieved a new PR in the pentathlon.

Myles Larsen qualified for the heptathlon as he collected 4461 points throughout the seven events, also a PR for Larsen.

CAC Indoor:

Jagne Ousman hit a PR in the 200m and qualified for nationals as he clocked a time of 21.41 in the event. Brothers Samuel and Ernest Green also met the mark to qualify in the 600m event as Samuel finished with a time of 1:20.10 while Ernest came in right behind his twin brother at a time of 1:20.30. Both times were PRs for the duo.

Sophomore Taylor Jacobs qualified for the 600m finishing the event in 1:35.73. Reanna Campbell also qualified in the event while setting a new PR as she finished in 1:38.19.

In the men's 800m both Austin Rueff and Greyson Akers qualified for nationals and set PRs as Rueff finished the event in 1:55.50 and Akers came in at 1:56.30.

The Thunderbirds performed well in the pole vault event as Craig Runge (4.24m), Sarah Nipper (3.41m), & Raely Palmer (3.11,) all qualified for nationals while setting new PRs.

Mesa will have another quick turn around as they will be traveling to New Mexico to compete in the Don Kirby Indoor Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
