Apaches look to stay undefeated Monday with game at Wagstaff

The unbeaten Tyler Junior College basketball team takes on Texas Prep Sports Academy at 6 p.m. Monday at Wagstaff Gymnasium.

The Apaches are 6-0 after sweeping two games in the Kilgore Classic — 81-53 over Cedar Valley College in Kilgore on Friday and 123-55 over Lone Star College-Tomball on Saturday in Tyler.

The KC Classic games on Saturday were moved to Wagstaff Gymnasium.

In the victory over Cedar Valley at Masters Gymnasium, Cameron Johnson led TJC with 21 points. He also added three assists, three rebounds and three steals.

Jason Bush Jr. (17 points) and Kieffer Punter (11) were also in double figures for TJC.

Others scoring for TJC were Shahada Wells (9), Reyhan Cobb (5), Ray Pantophlet (5), Deandre Heckard (4), Edra Luster (4), Jonathan Bryant (3) and Chandler Oriakhi (2).

Luster led TJC with eight boards with Pantophlet (7) and Cobb (6) following.

In the win over LSC-Tomball, seven Apaches scored in double figures led by Cobb with 23 points and Pantophlet with 21.

Other scorers were Wells (15), Punter (15), Heckard (13), Johnson (12), Luster (11), Oriakhi (7), Bush (4) and Bryant (2).

Nathan Anthony led LSC-Tomball with 11 points.

Following Monday's game, the Apaches will also be home on Friday, meeting Creating Young Minds Academy at 3 p.m.

TJC then opens Region XIV Conference play on Wednesday, Nov. 28 against Lamar State-Port Arthur at Wagstaff Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
