Cyclones outlasts Golden Rams in Doubleheader

SCTCC CYCLONES 10  ANOKA RAMSEY GOLDEN RAMS 3 (Wintercrest Park in Coon Rapids, MN/7 In.)

 

The Cyclones got good news early in the week, the National Division III ratings were posted, it found the Cyclones moved up to No. 5 in the country and Region 13 and state rival Century College at No. 6. The Cyclones pounded out 15 hits with six players having multiple hit games, it included 6 extra base hits. This was great support for the Cyclone pitching staff, the starting pitcher Ronnie Ingram a 6'5" freshman from Leesburg High School in Florida. He threw 3 innings, gave up 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Michael Wiesmann the 6'6" sophomore from Moorhead High School threw 3 1/3 good innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 11 big strikeouts.

 

The Cyclones lead off hitter continues his hot hitting, Justin Barreneche a sophomore from Carol Glades High School in Miami, Florida went 2-4 with a double and a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored a run. Adam Gilsrud a sophomore from Andover High School earned 3 walks and Matt Quade a freshman from Paynesville High School, continues his hot hitting, he went 4-5 with a RBI and he scored a run. The Cyclones Carlos Reyes a freshman from Hialeah High School of Florida went 2-4 with a big home run and he scored a pair of runs. Isaiah Almanza a sophomore from Deming High School of Deming New Mexico had a great game, he went 3-3 with a double, 1 walk and he scored 3 runs. Mitch Kurth the sophomore from Hutchinson High School went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Jonathon Fernandez a 6'3" sophomore from SLAM Charter school in Florida had a good game, he went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run. Justin Mohs a freshman from St. Cloud Tech High School earned a walk and Logan LInn a freshman from Eden Valley-Watkins High School scored a run.

 

 

 

SCTCC CYCLONES 16  ANOKA RAMSEY GOLDEN RAMS 5 (13 Innings)

 

It took 13 innings, but the Cyclones defeated the Golden Rams, they were tied 5-5 after 9 innings. The Cyclones put up 11 runs in the top of the 13th inning and they collected the  majority of their 20 hits too. The Cyclones starting pitcher Joey Cutrone a sophomore from Cooper City High School of Florida threw 2 1/3 innings. He gave up 3 hits, 3 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Michael Leffler a lefty from Dassel Cokato High School threw 3 2/3 innings, he gave up 4 hits and he recorded 8 big strikeouts. Ricardo Garcia a 6'3" sophomore from Coleman High School of Florida threw in relief. He threw 6 innings for relief to earn the win, he gave up 6 hits, 4 walks and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Jake Brinker a freshman from Rocori High School threw the final inning, he gave up a hit and he recorded 2 strikeouts.

 

Carlos Reyes had a huge game at the plate, he went 4-6 with home run and a sacrifice fly for 3 big RBI's. Matt Quade continues swinging a hot bat, he went 3-8 with  key bases loaded hit in the 13th inning for 4 big RBI's. Isaiah Almanza went 2-6 with a double and a walk and Jose Rosario a freshman from Fernando Collejo High School of Florida went 1-4 with 2 RBI's, he walked and scored a run. Zach Fuecker a freshman from Sauk Rapids High School had a good game, he went 3-4 with a big double in the 13th inning for a RBI and he earned a walk. Justin Barreneche went 1-3 and Adam Gilsrud went 1-6 with a walk and he had a stolen base, he scored 3 runs. Alex Jinkins a freshman from Altoona High School of Wisconsin was 1-6 for a RBI, walked and he scored a run, Johnathon Fernandez went 1-7 and walked and he was hit by a pitch and Justin Mohs went 1-2, scored a run and he had a sacrifice bunt.  Ethan Carlson a freshman from Apollo High School, he a great game, he went 3-4, with 2 stolen bases and he scored 4 runs.The Cyclones have now built a 16-4 record on the season with four big games coming up this weekend with  Itasca and Mesabi Range.

 

Jake Hanson was the starting pitcher for the Golden Rams and the pitcher of record. Ryan Lust went 3-4 and he scored a pair of runs, Cody Herman went 2-4 with 2 RBI's and Jake Hanson went 3-4 with a triple.
