BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Behind a game-high 39 points from freshman Amari Andrew-Brown (Stoughton) the Massasoit men's basketball team defeated MassBay, 86-80, in the Warriors first home game of the spring semester on Thursday.
Massasoit (4-5, 4-4 R21) buried seven 3-pointers in the first half to own a commanding 50-33 lead at the break.
In the second half, MassBay chipped away pulling within a single possession in the final minute of the contest.
However, the Warriors received clutch free throwing shooting from Andrew-Brown, Manny Perrier (Brockton) and Joseph Woods (Roxbury) to earn the victory.
Daniel Ruiz-Martinez finished with 16 points, followed by Alex Morrison with 11 to round out the double-digit scorers.
Massasoit finished with 11 3-pointers in the game, the most in a victory for the Warriors since draining 14 treys against Quinsigamond back on Dec. 12, 2019.
Crisrael Lithgow paced the Bucs with 29.
Massasoit is off until Monday, with a road contest at Roxbury CC at 6 PM.
