Niagara County Community College swept a Region III Western Division doubleheader from visiting Tompkins-Corland Community College on Sunday afternoon at Sal Maglie Stadium. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 4 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, are now 18-4 overall and 6-0 in regional play. Saturday's twinbill was re-scheduled for May 7 at TC3.
Niagara CCC 13, Tompkins-Cortland CC 2
Sophomore transfer Kyle LaPlante was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs as the Thunderwolves rolled to victory. Classmate Garrett Boldt was 1-for-1 with a triple and four RBIs, freshman Troy Banks finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and sophomore Will Lawrence was 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Second-year pitcher Alex Bish got the win as he allowed no earned runs over four innings of work.
Niagara CCC 9, Tompkins-Cortland CC 3
Lawrence went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while LaPlante ripped a two-run double for NCCC. Sophomore left-handed pitcher Tyler Brill got the win as he threw five innings of three-hit ball. Brill also struck out six.
