Freshman Moellers leads NIACC women at IC Fall Invite
FORT DODGE - Freshman Cameran Moellers led the NIACC women's golf team with an 89 on Monday at the Iowa Central Fall Invitational at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
NIACC, which was playing in its first tournament of the fall, placed sixth with a team total of 390 strokes. Host Iowa Central was the team champion with a 324 and DMACC was second with a 330.
"I was very pleased with Cameran Moellers (Monday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "In her first college tournament she shoots 41-48 - 89.
"She got in a little trouble on the back nine a couple of times, but overall she played very well."
Also for the Trojans Monday, Karissa Hoon and Paige Danger shot 100 and Emma Weiner shot 101.
"The women have put in a couple solid weeks of practice so our team score was disappointing (Monday)," Frenz said. "But it's also the first tournament of the year and we'll get better from (Monday).
"Karissa, Paige and Emma put forth nice effort and their focus was very good. I really liked their attitude out there (Monday) and our best days are ahead of us."
NIACC returns to action Saturday and Sunday at the Buena Vista Fall Invitational in Storm Lake.
"We good forward to heading to Storm Lake," Frenz said.
