January 16, 2019 -- The Columbus State Cougars continued their winning ways in the OCCAC, going to 6-0 in conference play with a win at home against the Lorain County Commodores.
LCCC was playing without the services of starting guard, Thomas Hronis (North Ridgeville), after he sustained a concussion this past weekend against Edison State. Justin Newman (Cincinnati/Robert A Taft) led Lorain with 21 points and seven rebounds, playing a full 40 minutes. Patrick McNeal (Cleveland/John Marshall) kicked in 15 points and Andrew Nelson (Strongsville) added 14 for the Commodores.
Coach Marty Eggleston said "Our team started out the game with three offensive fouls, so we struggled to find our rhythm offensively tonight. A poor shooting night, combined with 25 turnovers makes it tough to win, but I believe in our guys and think we will put it all together for our next game."
LCCC is now 10-8 on the season and 2-4 in conference play. The team's next game is at 3 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Sinclair Community College.
