Women's Golf Team Completes Their Fall Season
The Reiver women wrapped up their fall season competing in a loaded NCAA D-II field at the Midwest Classic, hosted by the University of Central Missouri. They had a good showing, finishing 13th out of a field of 20.
After day 1 the Reivers sat in a good position tied for 11th with The University of Kearney. The women were led by Freshman Beatriz Pinheiro and Sophomore Baylie Pyke with 79's.
"This course had a very tough layout," said Head Coach Matt Robinson. "This with the combination of tricky greens was a good test for the women. We haven't seen a course like this anywhere previously."
Day 2 brought some tough pins and the women hung tough, lead once again by Pyke and 76. Pyke just missed out of a top 20 finish by 1 stroke.
"To finish our fall season playing tough competition and a tough golf course shows us that we need to have a good off season to be ready to play in the spring," said Robinson. "We will be ready to go in March."
The fall season saw the women win 1 event, finish 2nd twice and a 13th finish in a NCAA D-II tournament. Pyke had 2 individual championships and a runner-up.
