DMR Runs 2nd Fastest Time in NJCAA History

MARYVILLE, Mo - Iowa Western's Distance Medley Relay team ran the 2nd fastest time in NJCAA history this past weekend at the Bearcat Open.  The team capped off an impressive performance by the Reivers to close out the competition. The quartet of Mohammed Kowa, AJ Kilbert, Steve Hines, and Jacinto Gaspar posted a time of 9:49.11. The mark shatters the previous school record by 10 seconds and is the new national leading time. Kowa also won the Men's 1000m run with a national qualifying mark of 2:29.16. 

Sophomore Tyler Missick finished 3rd jumping 2.03m in the high jump improving his national qualifying mark to 7th in the nation.  Bethany Stacey led the way for the Women's distance squad running a new pr of 3:09.47 in the Women's 1000m run. Sophomore Mike Harris had a huge day in the shot, improving his national qualifying mark to 16.06m to finish 5th place overall. 

"The DMR was exciting," said Head Coach David Burnett. "Coach Bierbaum thought we had a chance at that record and we came really close. Those four ran with a lot of heart and I'm happy for them to break the school record."
