Strong Second Half Propels Jayhawks Past Pioneers

BUTLER, Pa. - Traveling down to Butler County Community College Friday evening, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team came away with a 92-77 victory.

 

The Jayhawks (2-15) had six player score in double figures with Bam Toure (Jamaica, NY/St. Johns Prep) leading the way with a career-high 21 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field. Jafar Yahuza (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond) was close behind with 18 points while Josiah Ransom (Orange Park, FL/Helena HS) added 15 points.

 

Gonzalo Luque (Madrid, Spain/Instituto Ortega y Gasset) had a double-double in the outing, scoring 12 points while grabbing 10 rebounds (3 offense, 7 defense). Toure also had a strong game on the glass, grabbing nine rebounds (4 offense, 5 defense).

 

Brian Fajardo (Bronx, NY/Aeci Charter HS) distributed the ball well, dishing out six assists while Elgin Oliver (Monroeville, PA/Gateway Senior HS) added five assists.

 

JCC was efficient from the flooring, going 38-for-72 (52.8 percent) while going 12-for-15 (80 percent) from the charity stripe.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action on Saturday, January 22nd, as they host Erie Community College to start Region 3 play. Tip is set for 1 p.m.
