The Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team had a tough outing Sunday, losing 23-4 to #1-ranked Nassau Community College. The loss drops the Panthers to 3-2 on the year while Nassau improves to 3-0.
Playing at a neutral site near midway between the two schools, Nassau seemed more at home. The Lions led 9-1 after the first quarter and pushed the margin to 13-1 at halftime. The Panthers scored one goal in the third and two in the fourth quarter, but Nassau tacked on five goals in the third and fourth to make the final 23-4.
Julian Mangino (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.), Alan Porter-Jackson (Buchanan/Hendrick Hudson H.S.), and Colum Swan (Tully/Tully H.S.) each had a score as the Panthers matched their season low in goals.
Looking ahead
The Panthers are back home Wednesday, hosting Elmira College at 4 p.m.
