Jayhawks Bested By Buzzer-Beater Against Herkimer College

HERKIMER – Wrapping up their final road game of the semester, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team was edged out by the fifth-ranked team in Division III Herkimer College Sunday on a buzzer-beater, 68-65.

 

The Jayhawks (1-13) were led by freshman forward Gonzalo Luque (Madrid, Spain/Instituto Ortega y Gasset) with 10 points while grabbing 11 boards (4 offense, 7 defense). Elgin Oliver (Monroeville, PA/Gateway Senior HS) led all JCC scorers with 12 points while Kareem O'Brian (West Babylon, NY/North Babylon HS) and Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS) each had 10 points.

 

Gray and O'Brian also got their teammates involved throughout the game, each having four assists.

 

The Jayhawks went 25-for-52 (48.1 percent) from the field while the Generals went 24-for-64 (37.5 percent) from the floor. Herkimer had the advantage on the glass, out rebounding JCC 35-27.

 

The Jayhawks will be back home this Thursday, December 16th, as they take on No. 5 Lakeland Community College at 7:00 p.m.
