
SUMMIT, Miss. – The Indians got their second consecutive sweep on Friday, this time against Southwest on the road.
Game 1: Indians 7, Southwest 6
The Indians took the lead late to win 7-6 in game one at Southwest.
The Bears had a 4-0 lead in the third until ICC rang up six runs in the bottom of the inning. Allie Beckley scored Joryie McKnight and Tamiya Martin on a bases-loaded single, then Camdyn Cooper and Beckley each scored on errors followed by a single by Riley Tyree to score Hallie Turner and a sacrifice fly by McKnight that scored Jessi Smith.
Southwest tied the game in the fifth after plating a pair of runs to make it 6-6. In the bottom of the sixth, Beckley hit a sacrifice fly to score Martin and put the Indians in front for good.
Beckley finished the game with three of the Indians' total six RBI.
Julia Shaw earned the win for ICC, giving up two runs on five hits in five innings of work.
Game 2: Indians 16, Southwest 2 (5 innings)
The Indians collected 19 hits as they completed the sweep of Southwest with a run-ruling 16-2 game two victory in five innings.
ICC got it rolling with a six-run first inning as Jessi Smith doubled to score Allie Beckley. Subsequently, a double from Julia Shaw scored Smith and Hallie Turner, then Avery Wolfe doubled to score Shaw. Tamiya Martin singled to score Wolfe, and Martin scored on an error.
The Indians extended their lead in the bottom of the third with eight runs courtesy of RBI singles by Martin, Camdyn Cooper, Turner, Smith and Shaw.
ICC added two more runs to their lead in the fourth after Riley Tyree doubled to score Beckley and Turner.
Smith and Shaw each finished with three RBI while Martin, Cooper, Tyree and Turner each added two.
Shaw was also the winning pitcher, giving up two runs on six hits.
The Indians will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Ellisville to take on No. 5 Jones in the regular season finale.
