Men's Lacrosse Scores Early and Often in 19-6 win over Mercer

ARNOLD, MD – In the AACC men's lacrosse team's final home game of the season th Riverhawks bested Mercer County CC, 19-6 Friday. Sam Weisshaar led AACC with five goals and an assist.

Trevor Collier added three goals and two assists to go with a pair of groundballs and four caused turnovers. John Thibodeau, Sam Barrett, and Nick Barton all scored twice and had an assist. Francis O'Hara scored two goals, while Mike Renzi, Wes Morgan, and Brandon Grusholt each scored one.

AACC led 6-0 after the first quarter and extended its lead to 8-0 before Mercer got on the board at 9:28 of the second. The Riverhawks poured in eight of the next nine goals for a 17-2 lead headed into the fourth quarter.

Mercer struck three times in a row to start the fourth, but AACC answered back with a pair before the Vikings got the final goal with 12 seconds left.

Mark Kelm went 16-27 at the faceoff x. Conner Westervelt earned the win with three saves in the first 39 minutes of the game. Griffin Tucker made one save in a little over 11 minutes and Kolby Hood made one save in the final 10 minutes.

AACC led the groundball battle, 45-18, and outshot the Vikings, 64-15. The Riverhawks forced 17 of Mercer's 30 turnovers while committing just 14 of their own.

The Riverhawks are back in action at No. 1 Harford on Wednesday, April 28th for the NJCAA Region XX semifinals at 6 pm. Fans are permitted at Harford following social distancing and masking guidelines.
