Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse team opened the 2020 season with an 18-7 loss to nationally ranked Mercer on Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

The Vikings of Hudson Valley trailed Mercer to a 4-2 at the conclusion of the first quarter. Mercer jumped out early on Hudson Valley 4-0 but the Vikings freshman attacker, Carson Morgan (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) scored the next two goals to close out the first quarter.

Mercer opened the scoring flood gates in the second quarter and amped up the defensive effort as they managed to outscore the Vikings 8-0 in the quarter and took a 12-2 lead into halftime.

Hudson Valley played hard in the third quarter and played Mercer to an even 3-3 score during the 15-minute span. Led by sophomore Michael Kenneally (East Greenbush/LaSalle Institute), who scored the first of his two back-to-back goals less than 20 seconds into the start of the second half. Kenneally found the back of the net again at the 11:11 mark on one of Patrick Trippany's (Johnstown/Johnstown) three assists in the game.

Emmanuel Wilson (Kingston/Kingstn) closed out the fourth quarter to account for the final two Hudson Valley goals.

The Vikings are back home this Friday, March 13 when they host Union County at the Outdoor Athletic Complex at 3 p.m. on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.
