Golf Takes 3rd at Region Tournament; Sundstrom Wins Women's Tournament

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ- Lehigh Carbon's Golf team took the course at Ash Brook for the Region 19 Championship this past weekend. Finishing third overall as a team with a combined two day total of 733. 

After day one Blake Greenawald (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) was placed third individually with a 78 as the team totaled 379 and stood in third place. As for the women, Kayla Sweeney (Allentown, PA/Parkland) lead all female competitors with a score of 90 as Sydni Sundstrom (Fogelsville, PA/Parkland) followed closely firing a 91 for the day. 

On day two after the front nine Sundstrom would pull ahead of Sweeney by two strokes to take the lead. With just two holes remaining Sundstrom was four strokes ahead of Nancy Davidson from Rowan College of South Jersey-Gloucester. Shooting a final score of 93 Sundstrom would capture the Women's crown as Region 19 Champion with her teammate Sweeney placing third. Final two day combined totals for Sundstrom and Sweeney were 184 and 193 respectively. On the men's side Greenawald would cap off a terrific showing placing fourth in the tournament firing an 81 on day two for a combined total of 159, earning him first team All-Region.
