NIACC splits pair of matches
FORT DODGE - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Iowa Central tournament Saturday.
NIACC dropped a 3-1 decision to Cowley County CC, which won 25-13, 24-26, 25-17, 25-16. The Lady Trojans topped the Grand View Junior Varsity 3-2 (25-17, 21-25, 16-25, 25-21, 15-13).
"(Saturday) was a hard day on the court and not always the prettiest of games but we kept working hard," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We played (Saturday) without a couple of starters and I was happy how the freshman stepped up into those roles as we needed.
"I thought our setters did a nice job of utilizing the strengths of (Hannah) Wagner and (Kennedy) Meister throughout the tournament."
NIACC improved to 19-12 overall heading into Wednesday's ICCAC home match against Iowa Central.
