The whistle just didn't go the Cyclones' way in their NJCAA Region IV semifinal game (March 5) against nationally ranked South Suburban College. Playing their best defensive ball all season, the Cyclones lost in the final second to end their playoff run.

This intense game saw the lead change hands often. It just came down to who had the ball when the clock ran out. In the final second of the game, the Bulldogs secured two free throw attempts to knock the Cyclones out, 63-61.

The Cyclones looked sharp on the court, playing solid defense due in part to Juwan Savage, who has stepped up and been a major defensive presence. But every Cyclone contributed this game.

"It was a frustrating loss. South Suburban always scores, 80, 90-something points, and we held them to the 60s. It was our best game of the year," said head Coach Anthony Amarino. "We had chances, but didn't score enough, and it came down to the last second."

Savage finished with nine points, nine rebounds and eight blocks. Joe Ruzevich had 15 points and seven rebounds while Nick Sims scored 15.
