Flenor's giant game not enough for Bulldogs

Lee Flenor had a monster game for Mississippi Gulf Coast, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs lost 102-91 to No. 24 Northeast Mississippi on the road in Booneville.

Flenor, a sophomore from Miami, Fla., had 17 points, 22 rebounds and four assists.

Gulf Coast (10-3, 2-2 MACCC) trailed by as many as 22 in the second half and got it to single digits with just under a minute to play. The Tigers (11-2, 3-1) held on.

Anthony Ratliff (So., Terry/Jackson) had 25 points and seven rebounds for Gulf Coast, and Melvion Flanagan (So., Peabody/Alexandria, La.) had 24 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Donovan Sanders (Fr., Lake Cormorant/Walls) led the Bulldogs with eight assists.

Northeast made 26 free throws, five more than Gulf Coast shot, and outrebounded the Bulldogs by five.

Gulf Coast returns to action Thursday when archrival Pearl River visits the Weathers-Wentzell Center. Tipoff at Perkinston is set for 6 p.m.
