Bucks fall 17-7 to Lehigh Carbon despite Hurlbert's effort

NEWTOWN, Pa. - Despite a big day at the dish from Jackson Hurlbert, who finished 3-4, the Bucks Centurions lost 17-7 to the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon on Tuesday afternoon.

Hurlbert had two extra-base hits for the Centurions. He doubled in the second and fifth innings and singled in the seventh inning.

Lehigh Carbon handled Bucks' pitching as six hitters combined for nine hits, 10 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Lehigh Carbon jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Bucks posted one run in each of the first, third, fourth, and fifth. In the first, Bucks scored on a groundout by freshman, Manny Fernandez, bringing home Colin Dybalski. In the third, Bucks scored on a passed ball, scoring Brandon Wermuth.

The Centurions tied the game in the fourth on an RBI single by Justin Holz that scored Dybalski.

Lehigh Carbon never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring four runs on a home run. Lehigh Carbon piled on two more runs in the top of the sixth and added five more in the seventh.

The loss drops the Centurions to 4-8 overall, 0-3 in Region XIX and 0-3 in the EPAC. Lehigh improves to 9-10 overall, 4-6 in Region XIX, 1-0 in the EPAC. Next up, Bucks travels to play Montgomery County Community College on Thursday at 3:30pm.
