Kougars pick up doubleheader sweep versus Illinois Valley

April 22, 2021 - The Kishwaukee College Baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep on Thursday against Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby beating IVCC 10-6 and 18-4 in 6 innings in the nightcap.

Game one was a late 7th inning comeback that saw the Kougars score five runs in the top of the inning and then shut down the Eagles in last frame.  The offensive attack was led by Austin Modlin (Oak Ridge TX HS) with 3 hits, 4 Runs, 1 RBI, Lucas Hansen (St Josephs HS)  with 2 hits, 1 Run, Grant Cwick (St Viator HS) with 2 Hits, 2 Runs and 4 RBI and Isaiah Nunez (Somonauk HS) adding 2 Hits, 1 Run, 2 RBI led the attack for Kish.  Modlin, Cwick and Jered Marrs (Prairie Ridge HS) each homered in the game.

Richie Garcia (Boylan Central HS) went 4 1/3 innings striking out five and keeping IVCC in striking distance while Mathew Reuscher (Sycamore HS) finished up the last 2 2/3 innings for the victory striking out three and allowing only one hit.

Game two saw a twenty-hit attack for Kishwaukee on their way to their eighteen runs. David Guzman (Dundee Crown HS), Jordan Wilson (Steeleville HS), Hunter Stanis (Genoa Kingston HS) and Hansen (HR) collected multiple hits.  Cwick went 4 for 4 with two stolen bases.

Rico Garcia (Peoria HS) went the distance on the mound for the Kougars striking out five and allowing 2 earned runs.

Kishwaukee (2-8 in the Arrowhead Conference) will host Illinois Valley today at Northwestern Medicine Field (home of the Kane County Cougars) in Geneva with first pitch of game one scheduled for 2:00 pm.
