Indians shutout No. 16 South Suburban

Indians shutout No. 16 South Suburban

TUPELO, Miss. – The Indians had a total of 12 hits in a 9-0 win over No. 16 South Suburban, in five innings, at Veterans Park in Tupelo on Sunday.

 

It did not take long for ICC to get the scoring action started when Hallie Turner scored on a ground out by Riley Tyree followed by Avery Wolfe hitting a single on a line drive to score Jessi Smith in the first inning.

 

In the second inning, the Indians extended their lead with Camdyn Cooper scoring on a single by Turner and a single by Tyree that scores Turner.

 

ICC added four runs in their half of the third inning with a single by Emma Rose Thompson to score Wolfe, a sacrifice fly by Turner to score Thompson and Tamiya Martin followed by another sacrifice fly from Sammie Day-Jones to score Cooper. The Indians added their ninth run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly by Martin to score Wolfe.

 

Wolfe went three-for-three at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Turner had a team-best three RBIs while Tyree added two.

 

Julia Shaw was the pitcher of record as she gave up one hit and struck out four batters in three innings work. Turner entered the game for relief and gave up two hits while collecting four strikeouts in two innings.

 

The Indians will be back in action on Tuesday, February 20 when they travel to Boaz, Ala. for a doubleheader at Snead State.
