#2 OCC Women's Basketball Defeats #3 CC of Philly to Advance to Region XIX Championship

Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Women's Basketball advanced to the final round of the NJCAA Region XIX D-III Championship tournament following an 82-78 win against Community College of Philadelphia on Saturday (2/29).

The #2-ranked Vikings were looking for a measure of redemption against #3 CC of Philadelphia, after losing to them on December 7th in their only regular season matchup. The Lions would prove to be difficult to outpace, as Ocean led by 3 points after the first quarter, and by just 1 as the 1st half came to a close. The lead changed in this game 7 times, and was tied 4 times as two of the Region's best battled away, with the Vikings coming away with the hard-fought win.

All of the Vikings' starting five scored in double-digits, with freshman Allie Toth leading the charge with a 27-point, 6-rebound effort, while sophomore (and current GSAC D-III Player of the Week) Molly Collins (16 points), freshmen Haley Ocskasy (12 points) and Nikki Lozito (10 points), and sophomore Shaunna Bruker (12 points, 13 rebounds) gave absolutely all they had in the win.

The Vikings move on to face #1-seeded Passaic County CC for the Region XIX Championship on Sunday, March 1st, at 12pm, at host Northampton Community College.
