
Warner- Connors State withstood a late first-half run and pulled away in the second half to notch its seventh win of the season without a loss as the Cowboys defeated Dallas College-Cedar Valley Saturday 96-73 at Melvin Self Fieldhouse.
Sophomore forward Bradyn Hubbard once again led the charge for Connors and was one of four players in double figures with 28 points.
Connors jumped out to 19-6 early lead in the game, but the Suns chipped away at the lead and then made a run midway through the first half to cut the Connors to lead seven at 40-33 with five minutes to play. The Cowboys revved back up and outscored Cedar Valley 17-5 down the stretch to lead by 19 at halftime.
Besides Hubbard, other Cowboys to make it into double figures included Tony Green Jr. with 19 points, Donyae May and Khamani Cooper with 12 points each and Westville alum Buddy Hammer with 10. Antonio Freeman led the Suns with 15 points.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will play Wednesday in a pre-Thanksgiving doubleheader against the University of Arkansas-Cossatot beginning at 1 p.m.
