Softball drops pair of games to Lansing
Vikings nearly close the gap in Game 2.
Glen Oaks softball hosted Lansing Community College Saturday in a doubleheader. The Stars got the better of the Vikings in both games with 10-2 and 6-5 scores. GOCC fell to 8-6 in MCCAA Western Conference play and 13-9 for the season as a result.
Game 1 had an early Glen Oaks lead with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Lansing exploded with an eight-run fourth inning, then added solo spots in the next two frames. The Stars outhit the Vikings 10-3.
Brady Lesher had one hit and two RBI for Glen Oaks. Sierra Smith and Sierra Carpenter each had a hit. Carpenter and Faith Kline scored the two Viking runs.
Lansing opened Game 2 with two runs in the second inning. The Stars had two more in the third and one in the fifth. Glen Oaks tried to chip away, getting solo runs in the second and fourth innings. The Vikings had two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh. GOCC got the tying run to second base in the final inning, but were unable to bring them in. Both teams had nine hits.
Aimee Reinhardt had a triple and double, two RBI, and one run. Dakota Sigler, Kacie Scott (one double), and Sage Pruett each had two hits. Sierra Smith scored twice with one hit. Sigler and Pruett had runs. Ava Mejia pitched a complete game with ten strikeouts, allowing nine hits, six runs and four earned runs.
