RedTails Rise to the Challenge at Morningside Mustang Invite

RedTails Rise to the Challenge at Morningside Mustang Invite

The RedTails traveled to Sioux City, Iowa for the Morningside Mustang Invite this weekend and it was nothing short of challenging. This weekend provided probably the most challenging conditions thus far, but we were still able to have some pretty good highlights despite the low-scoring pace of the event.

The RedTail Men started the weekend fairly slowly on day 1 with a game plan that didn't match up the best but we were able to bounce back and figure out a better game plan for day 2. Jacob Mattison has been on a hot streak and led the way for the RedTails yet again and has been knocking on the door the last few tournaments and his patience paid off with a 4th place finish, which was his first All-Tournament Team appearance. Jacob grinded it out until the last game of the day and finished with a big 258 game which catapulted him into the top 5. Ryder Fleming wasn't too far behind Jacob and was also in grind-out mode, averaging 185 for his games. The men finished 9th out of 11 teams.

The RedTail Women started the tournament hot, throwing the second-highest score for the first game of the weekend but then ran into some trouble with the conditions transitioning and making things very difficult. Again the scoring pace for the entire tournament was low but the women stayed consistent through most of the weekend, with a couple of high points like Lauren Funk throwing a 211 during the first game on Saturday and then on Sunday, the women were able to throw a couple games in the 180's, 190's. Anna Becker was the high finisher for the RedTail Women, ending up in 12th place while averaging 166.4. The women finished in 8th out of 9 teams.

Next weekend we will be at home for a Mid-Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament.
