LADY SENATORS SEE SEASON END AT HANDS OF #2 SEED GULF COAST

The Walters State Lady Senators saw their season end on Wednesday afternoon in Lubbock (TX) as they fell to the #2 seeded Gulf Coast College by a 65-51 final.  The Lady Senators stayed close throughout the first half, but were outscored 17-9 in the third quarter by the Commodores to secure the win.

Walters would take the lead in the first quarter and hold it until the four minute mark when Gulf Coast would knot the score at 9 apiece.  They would outscore Walters 7-2 in the last 3 1/2 minutes for a 16-11 lead at the end of the quarter.  The Commodores would build as much as a twelve point advantage in the second quarter beofe heading to the locker room up 36-28 over the Lady Senators.  Diamond Forrest would lead Walters with eight points at the break.

Walters would struggle in teh 3rd quarter as they connected on only 4 of 14 shots (28.6%).  Their opponents made 7 of 13 shots (53.8%) to pull away 53-37 going into the fourth quarter.  The Lady Senators would outscore their opponents in the final quarter, but they would see thri season end to the Commodores.

Forrest would be the only Lady Senator in double figures with 14 points.  Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu would lead the team with 6 rebounds followed by Forrest and Rogers with five apiece.  Brianna Dixon would have six assists and jalayah Manning would have four assists while Dixon woul also have two steals in the contest.

The Lady Senators would shoot 33.9% from the field (18 of 56) comapred to Gulf Coast who connected on 47.3% (26 of 55).  The Lady Senators will finish with an overall record of 29-5.
