Lady Kougars lose tough one to SSC at 3rd annual Pink Zone game

February 1, 2020 - The Kishwaukee College Women's Basketball team played South Suburban College in Malta Saturday as part of the 3rd Annual Pink Zone for cancer research event.  The energetic Kougars would lead after one quarter and at halftime 26-25.  The game continued back and forth throughout the third and deep into the fourth quarter with the Lady Bulldogs eventually pulling out a tough 56-51 victory.  Kish was led by Cesca Vardman and her 14 points followed by Morgan Baker (10 points).  Lauren Kawall finished with 9 points and Addie Kitzmiller 6 points while Lani Morris, Dennysha Kizer and Rylee Abraham worked hard on the boards all game long.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Kay Yow Breast Cancer Foundation in honor of former North Carolina State Head Coach Kay Yow.  Coach Yow passed away in 2009 after a 22 year on again off again battle with the disease.  Coach Yow fought that battle in the public arena.  Her hope was to inspire others to make a difference in a fight that impacts every one of us in some way.  The Lady Kougars, Kishwaukee College and the Kishwaukee coaching staff were honored by all those that helped donate to the Kay Yow foundation as part of the day!

Kishwaukee (5-16 overall) will travel to Illinois Valley Community College on Tuesday for an Arrowhead Conference game then return home Thursday to host Black Hawk College.  Both games are set for 5:30 pm starts.
